About mcgill.exchange

mcgill.exchange helps McGill students plan an exchange semester by matching host-university courses to their degree requirements. It started as the winner of McHacks-13 and is being built toward a real launch.

Who made this

Hi, I'm a McGill student who got tired of hunting through PDFs to figure out which courses abroad would count. So I built mcgill.exchange to do it automatically. Add your own note here.

Frequently asked questions

What does mcgill.exchange actually do?+
It matches courses at McGill partner universities to your specific degree requirements, so you can see which courses abroad will count toward your program without digging through PDFs and scattered databases. Upload a transcript, pick your destinations, and every eligible course is revealed.
Is this official? Is it affiliated with McGill?+
No. This is an independent student project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by McGill University. Always confirm anything important against McGill's official resources and your academic advisor.
The equivalency I see is expired or missing. What do I do?+
Equivalencies are approved by McGill and can lapse. Expired ones usually renew quickly, and missing ones can be requested. Both go through the McGill course equivalency database.
Does the course show which term it is offered?+
Not reliably. The term shown in the app is a placeholder because the equivalency data doesn't carry term info. You must confirm that the host university actually offers the course, and in which term, on the host university's own website before you plan around it.
How current is the data?+
Partner institutions and equivalencies are scraped from McGill's public pages and refreshed periodically. The footer shows when the equivalency data was last refreshed.
How can I get help or give feedback?+
Join the exchange Discord to ask questions, compare plans, and share feedback with other students.

Not affiliated with McGill University. Always confirm details with McGill's official resources and your advisor.
